Bluestone Inn History

The Bluestone Inn, a handsome example of 19th century revival architecture, was built in 1861 by Fred Holbert, local stone and logging magnate and father of eight. The Inn gets its name from the stone quarry located behind the house.

In 1942 the Bluestone was purchased by Dr. Freisbee, a country doctor and well-known village personality. The Doctor added steamboat style double decker porches to the farm house at the request of his wife, Myna. Many locals still share tales of being received and treated by Dr. Freisbee in what is now the Bluestone Inn front parlor.
